Frequently asked questions

Gameplay

What kind of game is Last Firewall?
A large-scale tactical tower defense / city-defense strategy game. You command the defense of City42 — placing and upgrading seven defense systems, managing power and economy, and reading nine hostile families across forty-two escalating waves.
Is combat random?
No. Combat and AI decisions are deterministic. The same seed and the same choices produce the same battle, which is what makes replays, ghosts, and challenge seeds possible — and why every loss is explainable.
What happens when I lose a sector?
The campaign continues in a changed state: power availability drops, routes reshape, and pressure shifts to the next defense line. Retreat is always your decision — the game never retreats for you. You can recapture the last lost adjacent sector after earning a line-break opportunity.
How long is a run?
The full campaign is one connected forty-two-wave operation across four sectors. A Timed Operation compresses defense into thirty minutes, and Endless keeps going until your line breaks.

Offline & accounts

Can I play fully offline?
Yes. The complete single-player campaign, Timed, and Endless modes work offline with no account. Online features use optional accounts — only for the online features themselves.
Is there pay-to-win, loot boxes, or gacha?
No. No loot boxes, no paid power, no random gacha, no forced waiting timers. Specialist progression comes only from completed operations, and ranked play allows no paid gameplay advantage.
What about my data?
Optional accounts include privacy controls, block/report tools, moderation, and data export and deletion. The website itself runs no invasive tracking.

Online

What online modes are planned?
Co-op defense for 2–4 commanders, Attacker Command, asymmetric attacker-versus- defender PvP, Alliance Fronts, Seasonal Operations, and ranked ladders with replays and challenge seeds. The full architecture is on the Online page.
Will seasons invalidate my progress?
No. Seasonal content is additive. Critical narrative and core defenses never disappear forever, and completed seasons are archived so their mechanics and lore remain visitable.

Accessibility

What accessibility work is planned?
Mobile-first tactical readability, meaning never expressed by color alone, reduced- motion support, keyboard and touch parity, and clear explanations for every combat outcome. Accessibility review is one of the Closed Commander Program's core measurements.

Platforms

Which platforms will it launch on?
The game is built mobile-first with desktop-quality presentation. Specific platform and store announcements will be made only when they are confirmed and configured — we do not pre-announce certifications or partners.

Release

When does Last Firewall release?
December 1, 2027. The countdown in the site header runs on that date. Release alerts open on the pre-launch page when the endpoint is configured.
Is what I see on this site real gameplay?
The imagery is final-vision concept art — the complete game we intend to finish, clearly labeled as art direction rather than gameplay capture. Systems described in text are the design commitments of the final vision.
Can I playtest early?
The Closed Commander Program is the path. Sign-ups are not open yet; the form on the pre-launch page activates when the program does.
